The answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

Google search returns 42

A small proof:

0. The answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything = 42. (See The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, as well as Google as shown above.)

1. As of today, I am 42. (Trust me on this.)

2. 42 == 42. (Identity Principle.)

3. Therefore, I am the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. (Transitivity Principle.)

In addition to being the Answer to the Ultimate Question, I’m a Libra. I’ve long been convinced that Libra is the very best astrological sign.

Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so. Check this out from Wikipedia:

The astrological symbol for Libra represents the scales. Many modern astrologers regard it as the most desirable of zodiacal types because it represents the zenith of the year, the high point of the seasons, when the harvest of all the hard work of the spring is reaped.

I like my birthday very much, so I don’t confine it to a single day. Like Uncle Crappy, I celebrate Birthday Week, or even Birthday Month if possible.

Tomorrow I will go to see Okkervil River, Friday I’ll see a concert at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Saturday I’ll see my sister in "Murder at the Howard Johnson’s" at the Butler Little Theatre. Then Sunday my family celebrates my birthday all over again, this time with my mother and brother’s birthdays (which are next week). A fun-filled fantasia of birthday festivities!

As much fun as Birthday Week is, I think I have the capacity for yet more fun. Starting this year, I’m going to start celebrating Unbirthdays. I think we all should.

So, if today’s your birthday: Happy birthday, and many happy returns on the day!

And if it’s not your birthday: A very merry Unbirthday to you!
