YouTube – Mister Rogers: "Won’t You Wear a Sweater?" Day
Thursday, March 20 will be "Won’t You Wear a Sweater?" Day.
In honor of what would have been Mister Rogers’ 80th birthday on March 20, Mr. McFeely — aka David Newell, the public relations director for Family Communications, Inc. (the nonprofit company founded in 1971 by Fred Rogers) — has a special request.
"We’re asking everyone everywhere — from Pittsburgh to Paris — to wear their favorite sweater on that day," he asks in his best speedy delivery voice. "It doesn’t have to have a zipper down the front like the one Mister Rogers wore on the program, it just has to be special to you."
I haven’t decided which sweater to wear. How does one choose among favorites?
My brother Anthony claims he doesn’t have a cardigan, so he’s heading to the store tonight to buy one. It will be, he says, "part Mister Rogers and part Kurt Cobain." You can bet that I will post a photo.
I totally forgot, thanks for the reminder!
I don’t have a cardigan either, but I’m also short on time to go get one. Mr. Rogers, I’ll be rocking the pullover.
I’ll do my best to wear a sweater tomorrow. I loved Mr. Rogers.

I’m trying to decide “which” cardigan to wear. I have an awesome green one that is straight out of Cobain’s wardrobe, as well as some other “funkier” and lively ones. I also have more “work appropriate” and rather bland ones. I guess I’ll have to see whether I’m feeling grungy, funky or work appropriate in the morning…
I like that someone can get up in the morning and think “I am feeling very work-appropriate today”. (I’m saying that in a Cool Runnings accent.)
In other news, I have 14 hours to find a sweater. Or as we call it, for reasons that entirely escape me, a jumper.
