Is the unfortunate presence of Liv Tyler in this summer’s The Incredible Hulk balanced out by the tremendous combination of Edward Norton and Tim Roth? We won’t know until summer. The clashing Hulks look promising though.

The walking wounded
In the Jason Bourne movies, the hero runs and jumps and stabs and punches, yet somehow he rarely needs a bandage. Sure, sometimes he takes a break after messily snuffing a bad guy. He retreats to a quiet room and is ministered to by a comely girl. But then he’s back on the streets with …
L4yer Cak3
Over the weekend I watched the British gangster drama L4yer Cak3 (or Layer Cake). Some thoughts: Daniel Craig was an intriguing and different James Bond in Casino Royale, but I think he was even better in this movie as a troubled gangster. He plays anguish and moral ambiguity well. Any movie that features both …
Coming soon to a DVD player near me
It seems to be a trend to post a list of movies one hasn’t seen but plans to watch. My Netflix queue is currently around 450 items long. Some of these are compilations of TV shows and recordings of concerts, but even without them it’s too long a list to burden you with here. But …
Theological musings in film
cnE2nw2mi7E I mentioned the movie Time Bandits in a recent blog post. It was one of the earlier films made by Terry Gilliam, and while it was popular when it was released I suspect there are many people today who are unaware how drily funny it is. In March, there’s a blogging thing going on in which you post a list every day. Lists are easy entertaining, so while I may not post 31 of them I’ll chip in with a few. Lately I’m spending an inordinate amount of time crashed on the couch, watching movies. There are certain movie stars whose …

Here are details on a benefit event as part of that tour: Local Organizations, Restaurants, Bands and Artists Team Up for Benefit On Sunday, March 9, Creative TreeHouse will be hosting an art and music event to benefit Invisible Children, …
Why so serious?
StWZDqqBfJo The Lego version of the Dark Knight trailer we’ve been watching. Apparently, the plan all along has been to switch the promotional focus from Heath Ledger’s Joker to Aaron Eckhart’s character. Not having seen the movie, I can’t comment on whether this was smart before. I can say that every time I listen to …
Invisible Children Rough Cut Screening
Creative TreeHouse will be showing a screening of the Invisible Children‘s rough cut documentary this Sunday, January 20 at 6pm. Invisible Children is a movement that aims to bring relief to war-affected children, by raising awareness and bringing aid. The documentary is their primary awareness-building tool. Can a story change the world? In the spring of …
It’s a wonderful night
1IK7dr2nk5o "Wonderful Night" by Fatboy Slim is my favorite going-out song. The video quality on YouTube is trash though, so you’ll do better to watch this higher-quality version (Quicktime I think). The video also kind of puts me in mind of a certain movie, actually, one I haven’t seen in years. Movie night, anyone? ARK8eei1gOY
